You may be surprised by what states come with the highest risk of Skin Cancer

The rate of new Melanomas is lower in California than in Maine, per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Even on slightly cloudy or cool days, UV rays are at work.

Helping bring Skin Cancer rates down is integral to our mission here at éclipse.  Please know, cloudy skies are deceiving. UV rays still go through and hit your skin. It's easy to think of places like California as being most at-risk for skin damage.  It looks like it is not that simple.

According to the (CDC), the highest rates of melanoma are in some of the cloudiest states, like Washington, Oregon, and Vermont.

Wear protective clothing to shield skin, says the CDC. When it comes to developing melanoma, the biggest risk factors are sun exposure and white skin. Your best bet is to wear protective clothing every day, even when it’s cloudy.
